Ted Cruz, sénateur Républicain du Texas, vient d'atteindre le summum de l'imbécilité, ce qui n'était pas si facile compte-tenu de la compétition au sein de son Parti, qualifié récemment par l'un de ses membres de Parti de la stupidité (Party of Stupid).

Après avoir convaincu ses collègues Républicains du Congrès, la semaine dernière, de voter une loi de finance sans budget pour Obamacare, qui aurait donc de toute manière reçu le veto du Président, il a décidé de prétendre empêcher le vote de cette même loi au Sénat par filibuster. Sauf qu'il n'a eu l'appui d'aucun Sénateur, ni Démocrate ni Républicain - un consensus bien rare de nos jours. Et le vote a eu lieu à l'heure prévue, comme si de rien n'était.

Encore plus fort, le petit jeu de ping-pong budgétaire entre le Congrès et le Sénat créé par le vote de cette loi peut potentiellement causer une faillite du gouvernement américain, auquel cas les fonctionnaires fédéraux seraient mis au chômage technique - qu'on se rassure, le salaire de Ted Cruz est assuré, les Sénateurs font partie des personnels "essentiels". De manière ironique, Obamacare ayant déjà été financée, la réforme du système de santé ne serait pas compromise. Par contre, l'économie américaine, c'est un autre problème...

Pour résumer, l'imbécile, incapable d'obtenir ce qu'il veut par la voie de la démocratie, a décidé que refuser de financer des projets déjà votés par le Congrès, le Sénat, et indirectement par la ré-élection d'Obama, était une méthode acceptable, puis a donc fait une grosses colère de 21 heures au Sénat. Notons que pendant son discours inutile et interminable, à l'heure où ses enfants allaient se coucher, il a choisi de lire un livre de Dr Seuss, "Green Eggs and Ham", qui raconte l'histoire d'un vieux bougon qui dit ne pas aimer les oeufs verts et le jambon, mais n'en a jamais goûtés, et trouve finalement ça très bon à la fin du livre... Ironie qui a sans doute totalement échappé à Teddy...
