Sorry, I've been a little missing in action these last few days. A lot of work. But we're still here, and up to big things!

The big kids' school
Tipoulet is officially enrolled in a daycare for next school year. I use "daycare" in the french part, because there is really no equivalent word in French. The french "maternelle" (public school that starts at age 3, and that 99% of children attend) does not exist in the U.S. Public school does not begin until five years and before that, all types of daycare are private. It is usually quite difficult to have a spot in these daycare centers. For example, Tipoulet has been on the waitlist of the Stanford daycare for 2 1/2 years, but still hasn't been offered a spot. But apparently because of their high costs, the economic crisis has made room in some daycares. We were lucky, Tipoulet and his buddy N. will even be in the same class.

The carousel
There's finally a "carousel" within walking distance of the house. In front of Mollie Stone's, for those who know the neighborhood. It is not like the carousel of the Trocadero, of course, but for a Tipoulet, it is definitely good enough... He wanted to go tonight when I got home from work, and as I told him "But Loulou, the horse is really far ...", he replied that Tipoulet "is going to run very fast." Which he did.

Tipoulet's crying
As I mentioned recently, Tipoulet has been fighting bedtime lately. Until then, we used to put him to bed after giving him his bottle of milk, get out of the room, and let him fall asleep quickly.
But in the last two or three weeks, he started telling us in his bath, way before going to bed, that "Papa should stay a little bit" with him in his room; he's been asking for water, milk, a book, a hug (he knows what works better than the rest), and whatever else.
We let him cry a little, too. Even when we heard this: "Tipoulet's crying... Boohoo... Tipoulet's crying"
At least it was relaxing, because it was so funny.
Well eventually, what worked was to "give in" on something he didn't know he wanted (but we didn't mind) : leave his door open. Since then, no problem, everything fell right back into place. It was my idea, and I have to say I am pretty proud.

The submarine
Notre loulou sait (presque) nager !
As planned, we went back to the pool today. At two years-old, Tipoulet is still not afraid of the water at all, he jumped like crazy in his papa's arms. And when papa had fun putting his head under the water, well he just did the same.
He could have stopped there, we would have been impressed. But no, when he noticed, holding onto the edges of the pool, that he could move around and swim back up to the surface alone, we could no longer stop him !
Our loulou (almost) knows how to swim ! I knew that toddlers do amazing stuff at swimming classes, but honestly, I didn't think it came to them so spontaneously...

Mini waterbomb
We spent the whole week-end at the swimming pool last week. Considering the weather forecast, it looks like it's going to be the same this week-end... Tipoulet never gets tired of the swimming pool anyway.
