Going down the to-do list, slowly

On a mis 9 enveloppes dans la boîte aux lettres ce matin:
- 4 pour nos déclarations d'impôts (1 chacun pour la Californie et pour les fédéraux);
- 1 pour mon enregistrement à l'hôpital;
- 1 pour faire appel d'une décision stupide de mon assurance médicale;
- et 3 pour envoyer les premières "photos d'école" de Tipoulet aux grands-parents.



Je vous raconte pas le sentiment de devoir accompli. Ça fait au moins 2 mois que je repousse la lettre à l'assurance, et bien 5 que les photos trônent sur notre étagère (j'avais oublié de les donner à Mamina quand elle était venue nous voir à Noël...).

Mais techniquement, j'ai 4 semaines d'avance pour l'hôpital (bon, d'accord, j'ai les papiers à la maison depuis 1 mois), et 2 pour les impôts (même si vu tout le pognon qu'ils nous doivent, j'aurais dû m'y mettre avant).

Et là on parle de choses un minimum prioritaires sur la to-do liste. Prenez un truc totalement secondaire, comme le "nouveau" poster pour la chambre de Tipoulet. Encadré il y a environ 6 mois, on l'a finalement accroché au mur le week-end dernier.



Par curiosité, je suis allée rechercher dans mes emails quand on l'avait commandé: mars 2010. C'est cela. Mais comment font les gens?

We put 9 envelopes in the mail this morning:
- 4 for our tax returns (1 each for Californian and federal taxes);
- 1 for my registration at the hospital;
- 1 to appeal a stupid decision from my health insurance company;
- and 3 to send Tipoulet's first "school pictures" to his grandparents.
I can't tell you the huge sense of accomplishment I felt all day. I've been putting off the letter to the insurance for at least two months, and the pictures have been sitting on our shelf for at least 5 (I forgot to give them to Mamina when she came to visit at Christmas ...).
But technically, I am 4 weeks early for the hospital (well, okay, I've had the papers at home for 1 month), and 2 weeks for the taxes (although considering how much they owe us, I should have done that earlier).
And here we're talking about things that have some sort of priority on our to-do list. Take something totally secondary, like the "new" poster for Tipoulet's room. Framed about 6 months ago, we finally hung it on the wall last weekend. Out of curiosity, I went through my emails to see when we had ordered it: March 2010. Yes, that's right. How do other people do all this?
