Flash d'information spécial: Tipoulet fait ses premiers pas tout seul.

Jusqu'à hier, Tipoulet refusait obstinément de lâcher nos mains pour marcher, et préfèrait se laisser tomber plutôt que de continuer à avancer seul. Comme disait Mamina, le physique était là, c'était sur le mental qu'il fallait travailler...

Hier matin, alors qu'il brandissait une nouvelle balle dans chaque main (on reviendra sur sa passion pour les balles un autre jour), il a dû penser qu'il était accroché, et hop, six pas tout seul! Et il nous en a refait quatre de plus dans l'herbe à une party avec des amis... Ça chauffe, ça chauffe....

Breaking news: Tipoulet takes his first steps alone.
Until yesterday, Tipoulet had stubbornly refused to let go of our hands to walk, and preferred to fall down rather than to go forward alone. As Mamina puts it, the body was ready, it was on the mind that we needed to work ...
Yesterday morning, when he was proudly holding a new ball in each hand (we'll come back to his passion for balls later), he probably thought he was secured, and hop, six steps alone! And he took four more in the grass at a party with friends in the afternoon... Oh boy!...

Tipoulet's week with Mamina

La nounou de Tipoulet est en vacances pour deux semaines, donc comme vous le savez, Mamina est venue prendre la relève de la baby patrol. Ils ont eu l'air de bien s'éclater tous les deux cette semaine.

Au programme, plein de sorties au parc,




le Children's Zoo and Museum de Palo Alto (où Tipoulet a particulièrement apprécié le bidule à lancer des boules),



des séances de buggy musical dans le jardin.



Et pour finir cette dure semaine, nous sommes allés dîner à la Cheesecake Factory vendredi soir: gros burgers, frites, et même une part de Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Cheesecake à se partager à trois. Enfin à quatre, plutôt, parce que Tipoulet n'a pas trop laissé sa part de crème Chantilly, comme vous pourrez le constater!



Tipoulet's nanny is on vacation for two weeks, so as you know, Mamina came to take over the baby patrol. It sounds like they had a blast together this past week. On the program, plenty of trips to the park, the Children's Zoo and Museum in Palo Alto (where Tipoulet particularly loved the ball-throwing toy thing), sessions of musical buggy in the backyard. And to celebrate the end of this exhausting week, we went for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory on Friday night: big burgers, fries and even a slice of Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Cheesecake to share between the three of us. Actually, more like between the four of us, because Tipoulet had a very generous serving of whipped cream, as you'll see!

The 1-year old baby is well

Tipoulet avait son 1-year-old-well-baby (sa visite de routine pour ses 1 an) appointment hier.

Alors, on commence par ses stats:
taille: 75 cm, poids: 9,800 kg, tour de tête: 49 cm,
ce qui le met dans les percentiles suivants, respectivement: 36e, 29e et 97e (!!).

Conclusion, Tipoulet pousse toujours bien et a toujours une grosse (très mignonne) tête...

À part ça, il devait recevoir ses vaccins contre la rougeole, les oreillons et la rubéole (measles, mumps, rubella) et le pneumocoque, mais on avait décidé d'attendre pour faire celui contre la varicelle, que la grande majorité des enfants reçoivent ici mais pas en France. Pendant qu'on patientait dans la salle d'attente, on a croisé une petite fille de 1 an sortant de la même visite et qui a pleuré pendant 10 minutes dans les bras de sa maman, la pauvre bichette... J'étais donc un peu anxieuse quand même... Et bien Tipoulet a encore une fois justifié son titre de bébé en or massif, puisqu'il n'a pleuré que pendant 46 secondes après les piqures et puis est reparti explorer la salle d'attente...

PS vous remarquerez qu'il faut qu'on se prenne par la main pour nettoyer l'objectif de l'appareil-photo...

Other than that, he was scheduled to get his vaccines against measles, mumps and rubella, and pneumococcus, but we decided to wait before giving him the chickenpox vaccine, which the vast majority of children receive here but not in France. While we were waiting in the waiting room, we met a little 1-year old girl out of the same visit who cried for 10 minutes in her mom's arms, poor baby... Needless to say I was a little anxious... Well Tipoulet once again earned a reputation of solid gold baby because he only cried for 46 seconds after the shots and then went back to explore the waiting room ...

Youpala update

NdA: non, ce n'est pas un youpala, c'est un jumperoo, mais youpala, ça sonne mieux.
NoA: the actual name is a jumperoo, but youpala just sounds better.

Tipoulet a eu 1 an ce week-end. Pas mal de rattrapage en perspective, donc... Mais chaque chose en son temps.

Donc comme je le disais, c'était le premier anniversaire de Tipoulet. On voulait faire un truc rigolo, mais si possible sans le ridiculiser... On s'est donc décidé pour une journée tranquille: comme il faisait très chaud dimanche, on est allé à la piscine avec ses copains-bébés AM et N, et ils se sont beaucoup amusés. Puis on est tous rentré à la maison et Tipoulet a essayé de souffler, ou plutôt de manger, la bougie sur son gâteau d'anniversaire (fait-maison). Il a ensuite (presque) ouvert ses cadeaux, et passé le reste de l'après-midi à jouer avec ses balles, petits bonhommes, et bulles de savons...

Joyeux anniversaire, Tipoulet!



Tipoulet turned 1 last week-end! Meaning I have a lot of catching up to do, here... But anyway, let's take it one step at a time.
So as I was saying, it was Tipoulet's first birthday. We wanted to do something fun, and hopefully not too embarrassing for him... So we planned a pretty laid-back day: since it was so hot on Sunday, we went to the pool with his baby friends, AM and N, and they had a ton of fun... Then we all went to our place and Tipoulet tried to blow, well to eat actually, that one candle on his (home-made from scratch, yay!!) birthday cake. Next he (kind of) opened his presents and spent the rest of the afternoon playing with his new balls, little people, and soap bubbles...
