We adopted cats! And even better, a month later, they're still alive!!

Back to school!

Et voilà, c'était la rentrée des classes ce matin! Second-grade pour Tipoulet, et dernière année de pre-school pour la Poulette. On était assez à l'heure pour faire les photos d'usage, mais vous noterez que personne n'était très réveillé...

There we are, the kids are back to school already! Second-grade for Tipoulet, and last year of pre-school for La Poulette. We were in time for the traditional pictures, but nobody was really awake yet...

Hier, c'était la Fête des Mères aux États-Unis. J'ai eu un joli petit mot de mon Tipoulet, écrit à l'école mais en français - donc sans personne pour le corriger...

Vous noterez qu'il a bien intégré le concept des lettres silencieuses qui ne servent à rien.

Et sans même le faire exprès - je n'ai lu la carte qu'au retour -, j'ai tenu mon rang de "meilleure maman du monde" en les emmenant au Boardwalk de Santa Cruz, ce qu'ils me réclamaient depuis plusieurs semaines.

Yesterday was Mother's Day in the US. I got a sweet little note from my Tipoulet, written at school, but in french, so without anyone to help him.
You'll notice that he's got the concept of silent useless letters down!
And without even planning for it - I only got the card on the way back -, I secured my first place in the world's best mom competition by taking them to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, something they had been asking for for weeks.
They both got a few of their favorite rides (and some others), and cotton candy!

Paper accepted

Aujourd'hui, mon papier a été accepté. Ça aura mis presqu'un an depuis la première soumission - et je ne parle même pas du travail qu'il a fallu en amont pour arriver à la rédaction du papier. Les dernières semaines ont été totalement vampirisées par ce papier, et je ne pensais pas m'absenter du blog si longtemps. Mais au bout d'un moment, c'est devenu presqu'une superstition: je ne voulais pas revenir avant d'en avoir terminé...

Alors voilà, si vous êtes toujours là, je devrais maintenant pouvoir me réapproprier ma vie, et avoir un peu plus de temps pour en parler!

Prochaine étape: trouver un nouveau job!

Today, my paper was accepted. It took almost a year since the first submission - and I'm not even talking about the work that had been done before even writing the paper. These last few weeks have been completely taken over by this paper, and I didn't think I would be gone from this space for so long. But after a while, I almost became superstitious about coming back here before I was done with it...
But it's over, so if you're still here, I should be able to get my life back, and have some time to write about it! 
Next step: find a new job!
